Il cantante Jon Oliva ed il chitarrista Chris Caffery dei Savatage, dalla Florida, celebrano le loro radici heavy metal con i Doctor Butcher, un prestigioso "side-project" con John Osborn (Seven Witches) alla batteria. Oliva e Caffery erano ad un punto critico della loro carriera quando hanno avviato i Doctor Butcher, dopo la tragica scomparsa del fratello di Oliva, il chitarrista Criss, nel 1993. L'album, omonimo, viene pubblicato nel 1994 su G.U.N. ed è l'unico album registrato. Infatti poi Jon rientra nei Savatage, trovando la forza di registrare l'album tributo a Criss "Handful of Rain", pubblicato nel 1994, e i seguenti capolavori della discografia dei 'Tage. Viene poi lanciato anche il progetto Trans Siberian Orchestra, insieme all'amico di lunga data e produttore dei Savatage Paul O 'Neill. Gentilmente concesso in licenza da Sony Music, disponibile per la prima volta in vinile.
Vocalist Jon Oliva and guitarist Chris Caffery of Florida-based band Savatage celebrate their heavy metal roots with Doctor Butcher, a prestigious “side-project” with John Osborn (Seven Witches) on drums. Oliva and Caffery were at a critical point in their careers when they launched Doctor Butcher, after the tragic missing of Oliva's brother, guitarist Criss, in 1993. Doctor Butcher's self-titled album, was released in 1994 on G.U.N. label and was the only album recorded. Then Jon re-entered in Savatage, finding the strength to record the Criss-tribute album “Handful of Rain”, released in 1994, and the following masterpieces of the 'Tage discography. Then also the Trans Siberian Orchestra project was launched, together with long-time friend and Savatage producer Paul O’ Neill.
